Clarification from the F2F meeting at CERN.

Messaging is seen as an important part of EMI. The goal of the meeting was to ensure that the expections and the plans are in-line. There were three points that need to be clarified.

  1. What will EMI deliver in terms of messaging?
  2. What is the time-line for delivery?
  3. Is this in-line with the plans of the other PTs?

Concrete Outcomes:

  1. Even though the DOW focus on investigations, EMI will attempt to deliver a messaging solution and release components that make use of that messaging solution.
  2. The four main uses cases are Accounting, L&B, Service Management, Information Systems. Note that the primary use case is Monitoring which is being provided by EGI.
  3. For the end of year one we need to provide guidelines, which give enough details so that other PTs can start prototyping the integration of messaging.
  4. During year 2, PTs will work on prototypes and demonstrators.
  5. During year 3, the solutions that are ready should be delivered to EGI.
  6. SA2 will run the test brokers
  7. We will start with Active MQ and will make a decision in the middle of year two.
  8. Due to 7, PTs need to implement messaging in a technology neutral way.
