JRA1.5 - Definition and Implementation of the Infrastructure Area Work Plan - Task Force Cloud and Virtualization

Mandate and expected results

• Explore possibilities of how virtualization and cloud technologies / infrastructures are useful in the context of EMI
• Prepare a rough infrastructure / architecture sketch; an overview figure how clouds are used in context of EMI
• Expected is a 5 page document including the content from the above two points

Scope

• Focus is clouds and thus only virtualization in this context
• Related technical objectives can be found in DNA1.3.1

Guidelines / Hints

• Explore existing virtualization solutions (e.g. XEN, VMWare, etc.)
• Focus is only virtualization in context of EMI components
• Take existing work of the EMI components (e.g. WNODES) into account and evaluate it
• Does it make sense to create a product team and/or which EMI components are affected?
