Review Report and Recommendations The official report and recommendations from the the EC reviewers has been received. The project has been been classified as a Good project, which is an important result at the end of the first challenging year. The reviewers have highlighted the strong and the weak points and the work on addressing the highlighed issues must now start in earnest. Among the major recommendations, we have been encouraged to be more active in disseminating the project results and to make more people aware of the EMI software and the benefits of using it. As a consequence, we are now working on implementing a few changes in the project structure, plans and operations to strenghten the visibility of EMI and work on realistic sustainability activities
EMI 1 Updates The EMI 1 Updates are regularly released according to the established process. So far 5 Updates containing fixes for isseues found in several products have been released and more are in the pipeline. It is important to keep a good balance between being responsive in fixing important issues and keeping stability by postponing to later releases changes for which there is no critical need right now
QA Policy Documents A number of QA Policies have been recently updated and have been released or are in the "waiting for comments" status. Please check them, provide feedback and apply them as required. More info at https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/EMI/SA2#EMI_Policy_Documents
Testbed monitoring The need to ease the installation and monitoring of services in the EMI testbed is increasing as more releases become available. The Nagios monitoring system is already used, but probes for all services are needed. Some probes already exist and can be used, but the development of probes for all other services is a critical activity. The related development tasks have already been defined and assigned to the relevant product teams (refer to https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?group=emi-dev) and are expected to be available at the end of September
ETICS 3.5 A new release of the ETICS service has been deployed providing fixes and enhacement. SL6 build and test nodes are available in the system and developers are now encouraged to start submitting and verifying builds on this important new platform
JRA1 Development Tracker The development tracker is a new tool deployed by JRA1 to define, assign and monitor detailed development tasks from the EMI work plan. The development tasks can be found at https://savannah.cern.ch/task/?group=emi-dev. The work of defining the tasks has started and tasks to be completed by end of September have been assigned. More tasks will be added in the coming weeks. The Product Teams must use this tool to plan their work and report on progress and status.
