WIP – Surface Site Descriptions for CE Design and Costing PB

Purpose

This page is intended to be used for the development of Surface Site Layouts and preliminary building designs and costing for the FCC Feasibility Study only.

Design and Costing will be based on FCC-ee only. FCC-hh requirements will be considered for spatial purpose only.

The following table summarises the key elements on the surface.

Site platform and landscaping

Access building at the entrance of the of the site, can be integrated with other buildings.

Medical First-aid room in or close to access building. 8 m x 5 m x 2.5 m

50 m2 Control Room for the accelerator, including technical consoles and equipment.

100 m2 - 200 m2 footprint. Up to 800 m2 total floor space if used as multi-functional building.

General access for construction phase and for goods:

  • 2 lines strongly preferred (6 m width), 4 m minimum needed for single lane use with heavy transport, diameter of turning circle larger 20 m, slope not larger than 3 %.
  • For transport&handling, 7 m minimum needed for the road width. For transport&handling, truck lenght depending on the elements to be lowered (if magnets, 27m) with 65t per truck. - Modifications required for HH configuration:
In Work Gutleber/Watson Parking areas

Staff parking: 50 cars peak occupancy. Car and bike parkings can be distributed over the site. Should be permeable, not sealing the ground.

Visitor parking: 2 buses space, Can serve also as a shared parking of multiple cars. Can be offsite.

Storage and unloading areas

Pavement with heavy load transport means capacity: 25 m x 40 m.

Equipment for underground handling: 10 m x 12 m x 10 m.

Safety / Heliport: At perimeter boundary of site, with free access by air. 15 m x 15 m concrete slab. Needs to be checked with civil aircraft regulations or with REGA

Fence around the site must protect the installations, but must be permeable for small animals due to the ecological corridor constraint.
