Geant4 2011 Workplan


This workplan for the Low Energy EM WG has been prepared by both electromagnetic working groups.

1) New Physics and additional processes
       - finish new Penelope 2008 upgrade (2) (Luciano)
       - finish Livermore polarized photon processes and triple conversion (2) (Francesco, Gerardo)
       - full handling of fluorescence & Auger through UI commands [STD] (2) (Alfonso, Luciano, Paul, Sebastien)
       - new Geant4-DNA processes (2) (Alfonso, Hoang, Mathieu, Sebastien, Ziad) [!]
            ---> alternative models for electrons and ions in liquid water and biological materials
            ---> prototype processes for water radiolysis modeling (as an advanced example)
            ---> associated examples for users
       - new microdosimetry processes for Si (2) (Audrey, JEtienne, Melanie)
       - polarized processes for electrons (2) (Paul)

2) Validation and verification of EM physics:
       - continue detailed comparison of Standard, Livermore and Penelope models [STD] (1) (all) [!]
       - verification of ICRU73/ICRU49 stopping powers (2) (Pablo) [!]
       - adding extra test on low-energy electron ionisation [STD] (?)
       - STT test14 for Livermore polarized processes (1) (Francesco, Gerardo)
       - STT test52 for e- back-scattering [STD] (2) (?)
       - STT test53 for Penelope (2) (Luciano)
       - STT test56 for fluorescence and xray_fluorescence advanced example (1) (Alfonso)
       - validation of fluorescence (2) (Alfonso, Ziad) [!]
       - continue development of Web interface (2) (Paul) [!]

3) Material category development:
       - introduce "base material" approach [STD] (1)
       - adding extra data on molecule levels [STD] (2) 
       - possibility to change density of NIST materials [STD] (2) [!]

4) EM infrastructure update:
       - removal of all obsolete Livermore & Geant4-DNA classes (1) (Sebastien)
       - creation of dna sub-package inside electromagnetic category (1) (Sebastien)
       - coverity software debugging (1,2) (all)
       - 1D and 2D interpolation of data [STD] (2)(?)

5) Documentation
       - full revision (Barbara) (2)
       - update of slides for tutorials (2) (all)
