2013 Workplan


This expected workplan for the Low Energy EM WG has been prepared by both electromagnetic working groups.

1) Multi-threading for EM physics 
- Migration of all classes to Geant4-MT (1) 
- Migration of EM examples to multi-threading (2) [STD]
- Migration of testing suite to multi-threading (2) [STD]

2) Livermore models
- Finalize migration of Livermore unpolarized Compton to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) [STD] (*)
- Migration of Livermore electron ionization to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) [STD] (*)
- Improvement of pair production by polarized gamma rays, pair production in electron field, and radiative correction in pair production (2)
- Migration of all Livermore polarized photon models to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) (*)

3) Ion models
- Migration of ICRU73 ion ionization models to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) [STD] (*)

4) Monash U. models
- Development of a polarized version of Compton scattering (2)
- Development of a photoelectric absorption package (2)
- Migration of Monash U. models to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) (*)

5) MuElec models
- Addition of models for other target materials (2)
- Migration of MuElec models to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) (*)

6) Geant4-DNA
- Development of alternative Geant4-DNA Physics models (2)
- Extension of Geant4-DNA Physics models to ther materials (2)
- Development of a mutliple scattering process below keV range (2)
- Geant4-DNA example for radiolysis modelling (2) 
- Migration of Geant4-DNA models to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) (*)

7) Atomic deexcitation
- Semi empirical corrections for K, L and M cross sections (2)
- Migration of atomic de-excitation package to standard EM interfaces and tools (2) [STD] (*)

8) RBE
- Development of classes for dose average LET computing (2)

9) Test, verification and validation
- Validation of depth and lateral dose distributions for electron beams (2) 
- Validation of unpolarized and polarized electron and gamma models in water (2)
- EM Physics validation for MeV proton beams (2) [STD]
- Continue global verification & validation of EM models (2) [STD]

10) Misc
- Rename MuElec models
- Correct usage of static const in lowenergy and dna sub-categories (see Vladimir)
