---+ Structure of the Repository

The repository on =pi.physik.uni-bonn.de= has three main directories:

   * trunk%BR%
      The main development branch of !MarlinTPC. Only stable, working code shall be checked in here.
   * branches%BR%
      Directory containing the development branches. Every developer is encouraged to create their own private branch here. This way you have all the steps you are doing under version control, but the main branch only contains complete, stable working steps.
   * tags%BR%
      In case we want to make &#8220;official&#8221; releases, the trunk of a certain revision is copied here and given a meaningful name (like v00-01 for instance). NB: When committing into the repository, subversion tags all files with a revision number, so there is no real need for tags. Every revision has the same functionality as a CVS tag. So you just check out a specific revision and have a consistent set of files. Tags are just to give a nice name.

Usually you don&#8217;t check out the complete repository, but only certain subdirectories like trunk or your own working branch. If you do not want to modify the code (for instance a tag) you should not use checkout but export.
