Server upgrade from 2.0

Version 2.1 requires SLC4, therefore software upgrade is not possible, however the database of Version 2.0 can be upgraded and the YAIM configuration reused.

The schema upgrade would be explained, when you run the Yaim configuration of the FTS web service. If the schema upgrade is required, then Yaim will prompt you with a similar message:

Database schema is using the old 3.1.0 version. If you have just upgraded to 3.1.0 from 3.0.0, 
then yep, please run the below to further upgrade the schema to the final 3.2.0.
Please upgrade to 3.2.0 using the command (assuming yaim is configured to use the schema owner account):
   sqlplus "schema_owner/schema_password@connect_string" @/opt/glite/etc/glite-data-transfer-fts/schema/oracle/oracle-upgrade_3.1.0-3.2.0.sql
NOTE! This operation is irreversible!

• If you are upgrading from an earlier version, then please run the configuration script repeatedly. It will guide you through the upgrade steps.
• You should use the schema account (if separated from the normal service account) for the upgrade.
• Back up your database before upgrading.

New installation

• The fresh 2.0 server install is described in FtsServerInstall21.
• The client install and test is described in FtsClientInstall21

Administration

• Server administration (starting, stopping, logfiles, etc) is described in FtsServerAdmin20 (not release specific).

Client compatability

The supported compatability between different versions of FTS client and server software is described in FtsClientCompatabilityMatrix.

Oracle validation

The 2.1 FTS has been validated:

• using 10gR2 Oracle InstantClient (10.2.0.3) against Oracle Enterprise 10.2.0.3 RAC database.

For production WLCG activity, we recommend the use of Oracle Enterprise.

For production activities of smaller VOs, see FtsRelease20OracleXE (not release specific).
