List of experiment requests for high level tools
In this page we list the requests coming from the experiments on high-level tools to be able to fully use the capabilities offered by the storage services that provide an SRM v2.2 interface. For each request we also list in which version of the Data Management high level tools the request has been satisfied.
GFAL
- Expose request IDs to users
- Provide thread-safe calls
- Extract VO from proxy
- Provide an interface to srmGetSpaceMetadata
lcg-utils
- Allow for bulk operations at CLI and through the python interface (input can be provided through an input file)
- Provide a CLI/python interface for stage, pin and release operations
- Provide an explicit switch to turn off operations on LFC
- Make checksum/checksum type available in Ls after file has been written to tape
- Extract VO from proxy
- Provide thread-safe calls
FTS
- Allow for space tokens, pinning lifetime, file storage type, transfer parameters (WAN/LAN) to be specified/automatically calculated for both source (when applicable) and destination (when applicable)
ROOT
- Make sure that ROOT access to files is guaranteed via GFAL or via native ROOT interfaces
Requirements on the storage services
- Storage services should allow for directories with ~10K entries (this requirement comes from ATLAS; CMS and LHCb have requested support for only ~1K entries) without performance penalization.
