Minutes of previous meeting

The minutes of the last (8th) meeting HERE were approved.

Summary

  • HT-Condor testing starts for ATLAS via the condor-g component. Thanks to David Cameron for configuring the pilot factory and to Andrea Manzi for starting the tests.
  • Wahid left Edinburgh to pursue a career in California. Edinburgh was a very active Volunteer Site. We hope to have a new contact a.s.a.p.
  • Good work is being done in Napoli for ATLAS CREAM CE. Thanks to Alessandra Doria for promptly installing the new versions for testing.
  • The new ARC CE version 5 is expected next week. Thanks to Raul for picking it up for the CMS testing in Brunel.
  • The latest voms client v.3.0.6 is used by ATLAS and promised for verification by LHCb.
  • The Pakiti v3 client can report to the EGI CSIRT Pakiti server as well as the MW Readiness Pakiti server.
    • It contains puppet configuration instructions in the Installation manual.
    • The client will always report all rpms (not just MW) to the Pakiti server
    • The complete rpm lists will only be accessible for security purposes
    • The MW Readiness activities only "see" the subsets of rpms belonging to MW products
  • The CERN_T0 Volunteer Site to please install the Pakiti v3 client currently for the FTS and EOS services. We did decide, indeed, not to test FTS for Readiness, as it runs at 2-3 WLCG sites only and the risk of exposing multiple production sites to bugs doesn't exist. Still it is good to have more pakiti client installations for data collection, while designing the most functional results' visualisation.
  • We need PIC to start the dCache verification activity for CMS. Maybe also xrootd v.4?

MW Officer report

Andrea M. presented the status of MW products' Readiness verification status. The presentation contained advance information on the MW Readiness App (provisional name) which will "marry" rpms running at a site (reported by the Pakiti client) with package versions available in the repositories. The rpm versions will not be publically displayed on the App, hence no security considerations are due. Some info on a new WG web site (under development) that will show a dynamic view of MW products' Readiness status. Please see his slides here. The standard format of these status presentations are:
  • Experiment workflow
    • MW Product, including version numbers currently under evaluation.
    • Volunteer Site(s) where this is being done.
    • Status of the pakiti client installation at the site.

WLCG Package Reporter

Lionel is working closely with the Pakiti developers. Since last week, the EGI CSIRT Pakiti server can receive reports coming from the Pakiti v3 client (that we use for the MW Readiness). Regarding visualization, development is still ongoing (nothing to present yet).
