Machine / Job Features Specification

Introduction

In 2015/2016, the MachineJobFeatures WLCG task force produced a revised specification which has been published as HEP Software Foundation technical note HSF-TN-2016-02.

The previous proposal from 2014 is still available in this Twiki.

Changes

• The specification has been reformatted into LaTeX for publishing in PDF with HSF
• All key names are now purely lowercase letters, digits and underscores.
• GB/MB are replaced by bytes for memory and storage
• Processor=CPU terminology consistent with the WLCG IS TF and APEL are used
• grace_secs has been added to complement shutdowntime and allow jobs to decide whether to start an uninterruptible block of work.
• job_id has been added for the batch job ID or the VM UUID.
