Status of installation at sites

CNAF

CNAF has two sites, INFN-CNAF and INFN-T1 (will join later). INFN-CNAF is ready with Argus and WNs with glexec. At INFN-T1 the installation of Argus has to be finalized.

FZK

Angela: WNs and the CE are ready but they are not yet published since there is a problem with Argus, probably related to the policies. Argus developers will get in touch with Angela to debug the issue.

Maarten: Angela please report later about the problem and how to fix it, in case the documentation needs to be improved so that other sites will not run in the same problem.

SRCE

Emir: I updated the Savannah task, the Argus installation went fine and the YAIM configuration seems ok. We separated two WNs from our cluster and we installed the SL5 glite-WN 3.2 on it and we are doing the glexec installation today, so hopefully by the 15th the site should be ready as expected. Do we have to follow the generic installation guide or the certification way for installing the WN with glexec? Do we need to install any packages manually?

Gianni: Installing the production WN and the patches mentioned in the pilot you should get all you need.

Maarten: There could be some hidden assumption somewhere and occasionally can happen that one need to install things manually, but in theory the GLEXEC_wn metapackage should pull-in all the needed rpms, if you find something missing please report it.

Emir: When calling yaim should I call it only for glexec_wn?

Gianni&Maarten: you need to specify -n glite-WN -n GLEXEC_wn with the right upper cases.

Status of Experiments

Alice

Patricia: Alice have have done nothing for the moment. The sites they we could use are CNAF and FZK that are not yet ready. Then there are several issues. The sites will provide some WN and a CE in front of them. In order not to interfere with the production work, Alice would ask sites to install a special VOBOX that will be used to test this special infrastructure. The WN have to be SL5, and Alice will use production machines, not pre-production ones, and test with real production jobs, if some jobs fail is ok. Alice has two VOBOXes at sites, one submitting to the lcg-CE and one to Cream (one VOBOX cannot submit to both). An additional VOBOX would use the additional CE with the glexeced WNs. This way the production will continue in parallel with the Pilot.

Alessandro asked Patricia for some clarification about WN and CE deployment.

Angela: I can provide this additional VOBOX if it is really needed.

Patricia: We could do without it but it would be much easier with an additional VOBOX, it can be just a VM of course, and needed only for the time the Pilot is active.

Angela: can we clone one of the existing one? Patricia: Yes Angela: can we point this VOBOX to a Cream CE? Patricia: Yes, even better so that we will get rid of the WMS.

Giuseppe: For what concerns the VOBOX I have to discuss this internally, I will let you know.

- On Wed Jan 13 Giuseppe let us know that the INFN-T1 will install a third VOBOX dedicated to the Argus pilot -

No other experiments were present at the meeting.

Status and results of the development (by developers)

Chad reported on the latest Argus patch (#3536), which should be ready by the end of the week. This patch introduces two main features:

  • Client authentication
  • LDAP support for resolving group and user names, features requested by CERN.

Chad: This patch introduces new attributes identifiers, this means before installing the patch the policies have to be cleared out. The policies will have to be recreated with the pap-admin command using the new identifiers. When the release is ready I will explain to people what exactly has to be done.

Decision for next meeting

It has been decided to have the next meeting Tuesday 2nd of February from 14.00 to 15.00 CET.

AOB

Christoph wants to thank all the sites for the work kept in progress in the proximity of the Christmas

Exchange of Christmas wishes
