LCG Grid Deployment - gLite Pre Production Services - Pre Production Coordination - PPS Current Programs

Pre-deployment Testing in PPS

The PPS helps by mandate to evaluate deployment procedures, interoperability and basic functionality of the software against scenarios reflecting real production conditions.

The "PPS deployment test activity", coordinated by CESGA-PPS is integrated in the framework of the current release procedure.

To be a member in the pre-deployment team and participate in the testing of services, it's necessary:

Sites member of this pool are requested to following the next procedure:

  • An e-mail is sent by Felix, informing a new Update has been prepared, CERN repositories are ready and with the link to the Release Notes.
  • A second e-mail is sent by Alvaro or Esteban with the pre-reports for being filled each service released in the Update
  • Each Site fill the report for the service to which is charge to test it
  • The Sites upgrade as soon as possible (not more than 1 day) their priority services (see list below)
  • Report with the result of the upgrade is sent to the pre-deployment list,
  • Pre-deployment test coordinator will summarize the result of the whole test
  • The update will be released to PPS, and a bulletin will be created with the summary reports on EGEE Pre-Production Service link.

The pre-deployment test pool is composed as follows:

Site Name Site Admin(s) Mail Contact
CERN_PPS Danica Stojiljkovic, Farida Naz,
CESGA-PPS Alvaro Simon, Esteban Freire,
UPATRAS-PPS Vasilios Kolonias
KIAM-PPS Eugenia Kovalenko

Need password help ?

Use one-click authentication

Kerberos based authentication Sign in using your current Windows/Kerberos credentials [autologon]
Use your current authentication token. You need Internet Explorer on CERN Windows or Firefox on SLC (Firefox help here).

Certificate authentication" href="">Sign in using your CERN Certificate" href="'ctl00$ctl00$NICEMasterPageBodyContent$SiteContentPlaceholder$hlCertificateAutologon','')">[autologon]
You can get a CERN certificate on the CERN Certification Authority website.

Use strong two factor authentication [show]

Sign in with a public service account

Facebook, Google, Live, etc.
Authenticate using an external account provider such as Facebook, Google, Live, Yahoo, Orange.

Each site should point the respective service to the CERN repository as follows:

For APT (gLite3.0):

For YUM (gLite 3.1):

  • All services, SLC4 EXCEPT WN: baseurl=
  • WN, SLC4: baseurl=

For YUM (gLite 3.2):

All the RPMS concerning gLite 3.2 on Scientific Linux 5 are signed with a GPG key: gpgkey=

  • It can be found the appropriate repository file on link:
  • All services, SLC5: baseurl=
  • WN, SLC5: baseurl=

-Example to configure glite-WN repository for gLite 3.2:

name=gLite 3.2 Worker Node

name=gLite 3.2 Worker Node external

  • Now, in gLite 3.2, the repositories external are separated from the produced by SA3 team, because the external packages cannot be signed by SA3.
