Configuration variables for SGE

These are all the necessary variables to configure the SGE batch system.

There are two example files coming in /opt/glite/yaim/examples/siteinfo. The site-info.def file, containing general variables and the services directory, containing the node type specific variables. Please, remember to move these files into your appropriate siteinfo directory where you store the YAIM configuration. You can also put all the variables together in the same file. For more details please check The configuration variables section in the YAIM guide.

SGE Utils

The yaim-sge-utils module allows you to configure the LCG Computing Element to properly interact with the SGE Qmaster Server which can be running in the same machine as the Computing Element or in a different machine.

  • Mandatory general variables: They can be found in opt/glite/yaim/examples/site-info.def and are described in the site-info.def variables section in the YAIM Guide: APEL_DB_PASSWORD, BATCH_LOG_DIR, BATCH_SERVER, CE_HOST, MON_HOST, MY_DOMAIN, QUEUES, SITE_NAME

  • SGE Utils specific variables
    • Default variables: sys admins don't need to change the value of these variables unless they know what they are doing. These variables have a meaningful default value provided by YAIM and can be found in /opt/glite/yaim/defaults/glite-sge-utils.pre. Their value can be reset in your site-info.def file if necessary or under your appropriate siteinfo/services/glite-sge_utils file. Check the defaults directory section for more details.
Variable Name Description Value type Default Value Version
SGE_ROOT SGE installation path path /usr/local/sge/pro 4.0.1-3
SGE_CELL SGE installation cell string default 4.0.1-3
SGE_QMASTER SGE qmaster port int 536 4.0.1-12
SGE_EXECD SGE execution port. int 537 4.0.1-12

SGE Server

The yaim-sge-server module allows you to configure SGE Qmaster Server which can run in the same machine as the LCG Computing Element or in a different machine. YAIM assumes that the SGE software is already installed.

  • Mandatory general variables: They can be found in opt/glite/yaim/examples/site-info.def and are described in the site-info.def variables section in the YAIM Guide: BATCH_SERVER, CE_HOST, MY_DOMAIN, QUEUES, USERS_CONF, WN_LIST.

  • SGE server specific variables
    • Default variables: sys admins don't need to change the value of these variables unless they know what they are doing. These variables have a meaningful default value provided by YAIM and can be found in /opt/glite/yaim/defaults/glite-sge-server.pre. Their value can be reset in your site-info.def file if necessary. Check the defaults directory section for more details.
Variable Name Description Value type Default Value Version
SGE_ROOT SGE installation path path /usr/local/sge/pro 4.0.1-3
SGE_CELL SGE installation cell. Default is default string default 4.0.1-3

SGE Client

The yaim-sge-client module allows you to configure SGE client tools in WN machines.

  • Mandatory general variables: They can be found in opt/glite/yaim/examples/site-info.def and they are described in the site-info.def variables section in the YAIM Guide: BATCH_SERVER, MY_DOMAIN.
  • SGE Client specific variables
    • Default variables: sys admins don't need to change the value of these variables unless they know what they are doing. These variables have a meaningful default value provided by YAIM and can be found in /opt/glite/yaim/defaults/glite-sge-client.pre. Their value can be reset in your site-info.def file if necessary. Check the defaults directory section for more details.
Variable Name Description Value type Default Value Version
