1 Nov 2011 - minutes of the weekly phone meeting

The list of sub-tasks was agreed on as follows, with the first two as the most urgent topics:

WLCG Risk Assessment / Analysis - WLCG_RAA (Coordinator: Romain Wartel)

AAI on the worker nodes - AAI_WN (Coordinator: Steffen Schreiner)

AAI on the storage systems - AAI_Store (Coordinator: please volunteer)

Identity Federation - IDFED (Coordinator: David Kelsey)

Usability vs Security- UseSec (Coordinator: please volunteer)
==========================================
Participants in the meeting:

Jakob Blomer, Joel Closier, Maarten Litmaath, Alessandro De Salvo, Steffen Schreiner, Romain Wartel, John White, Eric Yen
==========================================
Summary:

- It was agreed that the group has too little contribution from sites (e.g. Tier1 or 2), in particular for the sub-tasks of AAI_WN and AAI_Store. In any case, we will require input from site perspective!

- The WLCG_RAA will have a face to face meeting upcoming Monday, the 7th of November. Romain will send out the details.

- The sub-task AAI_WN should synchronize with the TEG WMS. Maarten and Steffen will attend their meetings at the end of this week and report back, including a plan for a meeting next week. Further, the aspects 'virtualization' and 'cloud' were added to the sub-task.

- AAI_WN and AAI_Store both feature a discussion of credentials, which needs to be interlinked / representing both sub-tasks together. Especially, as (or where) the requirements might not necessarily be the same.

- AAI_Store should further be synchronized with TEG DataManagement and TEG DataStorage.

- AAI_Store and UseSec are both missing at least one coordinator. Please volunteer!
==========================================
Next meeting(s):

- We plan to have a weekly meeting (with at least all sub-task coordinators) every Tuesday at 11am, Geneva Time.

- A face to face meeting might be done if possible before Xmas.

8 Nov 2011 - minutes of the weekly phone meeting

Participants in the meeting:

Maarten Litmaath, David Kelsey, Steffen Schreiner, Romain Wartel
==========================================
Summary:

Romain reported on the first meeting for WLCG_RAA (7 Nov 2011). The risk assessment was conducted and compiled in a first raw form, and will now be drafted and further refined.

Maarten and Steffen reported on the security discussions within the WM TEG meetings (3+4 Nov 2011), where the main issue was the understanding what is necessary, and why it is, in terms of security on the WN. Next to the sub task AAI_WN, a general discussion on credentials and proxy will be now a feature on its own. The AAI_WN will start with why and what we need on the WN with respect to MUPJ, based on the existing Grid policies and the risk assessment.

- AAI_WN: Maarten summarized the GDB presentations and discussions. Since fine-grained traceability and identity switching are agreed on, the next steps/aspects are:

  • distribution of information sources/logs, and reconstruction of information/evidence based on that
  • discovery on a WN
  • consequences of discovery, e.g. potential user banning
  • proxies and in general the relation between submission and WN execution

- UseSec: Von announced to stay on input gathering until early January and then go to prioritization.

==========================================
Summary:

- The meeting focused on the F2F meeting in Amsterdam, January the 26th, and the consecutive TEG Report meeting at CERN, February the 7th : In the TEG Report meeting at CERN all TEGs are required to give a one hour report on its progress together with a written status report regarding the concerned topics.

- For the agenda of the F2F meeting in Amsterdam everybody is welcome to come up with topics or aspects that should be discussed along the different subtasks. During today's meeting we've seen the WLCG_RAA and the AAI_WN as the two main topics, with a focus on the later due to the less mature state.

- For the AAI_WN, Maarten and Steffen will provide input and a so-far-summary asap and send it out to the list as a preparation for all subtask members. During the F2F, we will need to get to a written (at least bullets + short summary) status everybody can either agree on or have clearly formulated objections or alternative views.

PLEASE EVERYBODY REGISTER BY THE JANUARY the 20th for Amsterdam: https://indico.cern.ch/confRegistrationFormDisplay.py?confId=172023
