Joint tape tests preparation

Description of tape data challenges for RUN3

Input required from Tier 1 sites

Summary table

Site Info provided Take part in the test GGUS ticket
CERN YES Alice, Atlas, CMS, LHCb GGUS:152756
BNL YES Yes, single VO=ATLAS GGUS:152768
CNAF YES CNAF is available to participate in the tape test for all WLCG VOs GGUS:152760
FNAL YES Yes, single VO=CMS GGUS:152767 , GGUS:153398
IN2P3 YES CC-IN2P3 agree to participate in the tape test. All WLCG VO are welcome GGUS:152759
JINR YES Yes. We support CMS VO only. GGUS:152761 ; GGUS:153396
KISTI YES Yes. We support ALICE VO only. GGUS:152762
KIT YES Yes. Supporting ATLAS, CMS & LHCb. Our participation in the test depends on the timeline when WLCG is going to do it, since we have data migration to HPSS is going in the background, and at that time we may not be able to participate due to limited resources. Timing is very important for us. GGUS:152757 , GGUS:153395
NDGF YES Both ALICE and ATLAS VOs are acceptable to test. We are aware of a couple of outstanding performance issues that we are working on, so especially read performance will improve in the future. GGUS:152763 , GGUS:153399
RRC-KI YES Need more info about test details. We are migrating data to new tape format now, and we are interested to join to test if it is not related to mass tape read/write activity. We are supporting ALICE ATLAS and LHCb. Any of this VO may be used for tape test. Please note, that ops/dteam VO is configured to avoid writing data to tape. GGUS:152764 ; GGUS:153397
PIC YES PIC would be available to participate in the tape test for all WLCG VOs it supports, namely ATLAS, CMS and LHCb. Please take note that some data is on an old technology that we are retiring, and that we are expanding a new system and migrating data (migrations will be stopped during the tests). GGUS:152758
RAL YES RAL agree to participate in the tape test. All WLCG VO are welcome. It should be noted that we are in the process of deploying CTA. AS of July, we have an instance up on production hardware and we aim to have that available for public testing in September. It would be advantages if CTA could be tested. GGUS:152766
TRIUMF YES Yes. ATLAS only GGUS:152755
