Problem 1

The DN of a user changes. What does the LFC/DPM admin have to do, so that the user can still access her files ?

Problem 2

The name of a group/VO changes. What does the LFC/DPM admin have to do, so that the permissions remain correct ?

Solution

Use the lfc-modifyusrmap or lfc-modifygrpmap commands. See man lfc-modifyusrmap and man lfc-modifygrpmap.

The steps to follow are:

  • Find out the virtual uid (or gid) of the user (or group). Currently, you need to query the database for this:
         select * from Cns_userinfo;
         userid     username
         ...
         106         /DC=ch/DC=cern/OU=Organic Units/OU=Users/CN=mmouse/CN=123456/CN=Old User's DN
         ...

  • If you need to update a (virtual gid, group) mapping, query the Cns_groupinfo table instead.

  • Update the user's DN (or group name):
        lfc-modifyusrmap --uid 106 --user "/DC=ch/DC=cern/OU=Organic Units/OU=Users/CN=mmouse/CN=123456/CN=New User's DN"
