SAM Service Dash Board Notes

These notes describe the evaluation of the SAM service for the LCG production. The status is summarised on the WlcgScDash pages.

Requirements

 Green  Disk space requirements defined: minimal local disk
 Green  Database requirements defined: Oracle (RAC)
 Green  Middleware components defined: LCG UI, WMS (RB), BDII, DPM
 Green  Connectivity requirements defined: 8080 tomcat; 8443, 8083 httpd
 Green  Backup objects defined: Oracle, SAM server (backup instance)
 Green  High level diagram of services: see SamProdServLayout

Development

 Green  Code delivered and installation images available: regular RPM releases
 Green  Certification Procedure defined: SAM Production Release => SAM Validation
 Green  Administration Guide available: see EGEE SAM docs => for Administrators (manual install) and SAM Quattor installation
 Green  Problem Determination Guide available: find them on SAM Production Service => Documents
 Green  Middleware pre-requisites (web server, LDAP, ...) defined: HTTPD, tomcat

Hardware

 Green  Memory requirement for application: 2GB
  RED    Inventory of hardware components
 Green  Machines on order or available: all machines available (1 more DPM ordered)
  RED    Machines installed in appropriate location within data centre (UPS,Network): installed LCG network
 Green  Database server and disk space allocated: Database backend on LCG Oracle RAC Cluster

 Green  Test environment defined and available: certification nodes
 Green  Problem determination procedures including how to determine application vs middleware vs database issues: SAM Production Service => Documents
 Yellow  Procedures for start/stop/drain/check status defined
