This release will be the last big YAIM release where yaim core will no longer contain node type specific configuration. There will be one yaim module per node type. From now on, check the table above to follow the status of YAIM patches where a new yaim module is released.

Since YAIM 3.1.1 configures gLite 3.0 and gLite 3.1 services and clients, we have decided to use a new version name, YAIM 4, to identify the new YAIM in case 3.1.1 YAIM can be misleading (some people may think it only configures 3.1 gLite!). So the next release will be called YAIM 4.

---+ YAIM 3.1.1

YAIM 3.1.1 will configure gLite 3.0 and gLite 3.1 services and clients. The main feature of the new YAIM is its modularity. There will be a yaim core module, a yaim client module and different yaim modules for each gLite service. In the first release not all the services have been splitted in a new module and therefore they are part of yaim core. The idea for upcoming releases is to have a full modular version. Current modules are:

   * org.glite.yaim.core 
   * org.glite.yaim.clients 
   * org.glite.yaim.dpm 
   * org.glite.yaim.lfc 
   * org.glite.yaim.fts
   * org.glite.yaim.dcache 
   * org.glite.yaim.myproxy

The missing components are still part of yaim core and will be splitted in future releases.

However, there are also modules for:

   * org.glite.yaim.wms 
   * org.glite.yaim.lb

to configure the new 3.1 WMS and LB. These rpms are only available in the special repository used to certify the new 3.1 WMS.

The first 3.1.1 release is a merge of yaim 3.0.1-22 and yaim 3.1.0 (for UI and WN). The new yaim will allow to configure all glite 3.0 and glite 3.1 services and clients.

There is an important configuration change in yaim 3.1.1 for the new 3.1 WMS (slc3, VDT 1.2). It is now configured with a set of bash scripts instead of the python scripts.

This YAIM version is a merge of yaim 3.0.1-22 and yaim 3.1.0. It fixes some outstanding issues found during certification but do not include any other fixes already present in the previous yaim releases. Bug fixes will start to appear in future releases. In this version, all the yaim modules are released. From now on, each yaim module can be released in an independent way. The versions of the rpm yaim modules are:

   * YAIM will auto-detect the situation and warn about dubious users.conf content, e.g. when only a single =sgm/prd= pool account has been defined for a VO (like in the example users.conf).
   * Correct syntax for the LHCb sgm and production user's certificate FQANs are inserted in example =groups.conf=.

   * Fix for bug 26033 (fetch-crl)
   * A cron job is copied to /etc/cron.monthly during the install of a DPM node which creates the 'generated' directories in advance. It has to be run manually for the first time, then it runs automatically in every months.
   * A similar cron-job is created for classic_SE.
   * Changes in dCache configuration:
      * Changed GlueServiceVersion, and GlueServiceType to be LHC compliant in values.
      * Changed Default replica location service from PNFS to companion database as its now stable.
      * Added a cron job to run at 22:12 daily to generate the generated directory for LCG tools and delete all empty generated directories which are older than 2 days. This code is based upon production code created by Patrick Furman and now maintained as part of YAIM.
     None of which requires steps from the site admin.
   * Fix for GGUS ticket 21675 (removal of MDS configuration on DPM)
   * =DENY= attribute is added to the =VOVIEW= configurations. This does not require any new configuration changes from the site admin, it is only to ensure that the VOVIEW information is mutually exclusive.
   * During a configuration the full path and the last modification date of the =site-info.def= used is saved in the log. This is to help the situation when several site admins is messing around on the same machine ;-)
   * No pool accounts are created on LFC any more. They are not needed.
   * New host certificate DN of the =lcg-voms.cern.ch= host is included into the example =site-info.def= file. (Valid from 24,May,2007).
   * First appearance of named versions :-)

The new DPM info provider is configured, which query the mysql database directly. For this it needs a user account and password:

YAIM introduces two new variables:

The first is the mysql DB user which gets select grant to query the database, and the second it's password.
Both of them are compulsory parameters.

The new infoprovider is called by the =edguser= , so in order to have the permission the host certificate gets installed in it's .globus directory.

Two new YAIM variable is introduced, they are not compulsory to be set and have default values as the following:

The DPM db name. Default is dpm_db
# DPM_DB=dpm_db

# The DPNS db name. Default is cns_db
# DPNS_DB=cns_db
</verbatim>

This is to allow the usage of the same remote DB server serving several DPM node.
*IMPORTANT*
   * The apt-autoupdate not supported, i.e. do the upgrade and the reconfiguration in one process. As always, it is recommended to do a DB backup before the upgrade.
   * After the reconfiguration, DPM will use BDII as IP instead of MDS. Because of this the connect string and prot number on the site-BDII has to be changed from "mds-vo-name=local,o=grid" to "mds-vo-name=resource,o=grid" and from 2135 to 2170 respectively. Reconfigure and restart your site-BDII.

Note:
As a side effect of this reconfiguration the lcg-cr command will not work if your LCG_GFAL_INFOSYS variable is pointed to the DPM's infosys instead of a top-level BDII. This is not a bug, just a consequence worth to mention.
