Overview
In January 2010, a new joint effort for Higgs cross sections between ATLAS, CMS and theory community was announced and the new LHC wide working group has been created. The mandate agreed between ATLAS and CMS has been
documented. The aim of this group is to produce agreements on cross sections, branching ratios and pseudo-observables relevant to SM and MSSM Higgs boson(s). Recommendation on input parametres and errors (α
s, PDF uncertainty, scale uncertainty, top/bottom masses, etc.) will be discussed, along with how the cross sections of background processes, luminosity errors and any common b-tag uncertainties etc. should be
handled. Agreement on these issues will facilitate comparison and combination of results. This will require the active collaboration of the leading theorists developing the tools. The group will work in close collaboration with Monte Carlo Generator group, Standard Model Cross Section task force and Statistics forum in ATLAS and CMS.
The overall contact persons from ATLAS, CMS and theory community and contact persons for subgroups have been appointed for 2-year mandate. The contact will report progress to the each Higgs working group. The group is open to everyone who wishes to contribute, but one should keep in mind that this group is not a forum for general discussion on Higgs physics. Unreleased data results from the collaborations will not be shown nor discussed in this group.
The group is expected to have the workshops 3-4 times per year.
Meeting agenda
are open in CERN InDico and the announcement will be made publicly in the
mailing list. After the meeting, report and minutes will be made available to the collaboration.
If you want to join any of the subgroup, please send an e-mail to subgroup contacts listed below as well as to the overall contacts. Please subscribe yourself to the mailing list lhc-higgs.
