Group ShortDescription Deliverables Timescale Notes Status

ggF PS uncertainties [potentially public note] >2021 Start looking at the new MiNNLOPS sample and use this as testbed to kick start some of the shower uncertainties studies Starting

Uncertainties in kinematic regions

Recommendation (LHCXSWG-INT-2017-001); Tool

Working on a public note with the new recommendation with WG2

---

Summer 2021

It is a set of per-event weights, one for each source of uncertainty, to plug&play using the simplified/template cross section setup. Implemented everything in MINLO NNLOPS, being this the reference and the most up to date generator.

Re-weighting Powheg to NNLOPS is mandatory , since the uncertainties have been calculated with a given perturbative order, and if it is not matched with the generator, the result may be inconsistent.

Recent progress: High-Pt results from WG1 (see next line) incorporated+ agreement reached on NP definition between ATLAS, CMS and theory community.

Old STXS: done

New STXS 1.2: In progress (finalizing the numbers)

ggF Boosted-Higgs cross-section recommendation Recommendation (LHCXSWG-2019-002) Fall 2019 Note available here and update here Done
VBF PS uncertainties Public note with detailed benchmark study 2020 Systematic investigation of parton shower and matching uncertainties for VBF, compare generators at NLO QCD matched with PYTHIA8 and HERWIG7 with NNLO, sets PS recommendation for the VBS/VBF topologies Done
VBF STXS uncertainties Public tool, public note in preparation in collaboration with the WG2 Spring/Summer 2020 Developed a VBF uncertainty scheme for the STXS measurement that is currently used as a benchmark by both ATLAS and CMS, still some areas with room for improvement (for example in the EWK corrections in the EW H+2jets). Mostly done, note being written
VBF Jet multiplicities merging and Parton shower accuracy [potentially public note] >Summer 2020 --- In progress
VBF Higher-order corrections [potentially public note] 2021 A comparative study of Higgs boson production from vector-boson fusion report -- to be discussed at the next general meeting In progress
VBF Soft QCD effects, multi-parton interaction and colour reconnection [public note in preparation] 2021 Vary colour reconnection and MPI parameters to stay within ~ 10% agreement of typical tuning observables, vary perturbative scales, specifically shower hard scale, full NLO+PS study including shower variations In progress
VBF Higgs Boson Plus Dijets [potentially public note] Summer 2020 --- In progress
VH VH XS prediction and uncertainties in STXS framework Software tool + recommendations --- Goal: tool providing central value and uncertainties Initiated, see here
VH V+hf modeling for VH(bb) [potentially public note] 2021 Project ongoing for ATLAS and CMS comparisons: MC comparisons across several V+hf MC tools targeting VH(bb) phase space, guidelines for theory uncertainties on V+hf predictions In progress, see here
VH ggZH merged predictions [potentially public note], initial results in les houches 2019 proceedings with sherpa setup here 2021 Comparison between showered ggZH 0+1jet merged LO MC prediction, and ggZH LO prediction. Initial results in Les Houche 2019 proceedings + being studied in ATLAS software In progress
ttH/tH tt+b-jets modelling [public note], recommendation being finalized, subgroup meeting late June/July 2021 Summer 2021 Provide the experiments with well-defined recommendations for the use of the corresponding Monte Carlo tools in experimental analyses Being finalized
ttH/tH tt+V (V=W,Z)->multi leptons modelling [potential public note] Summer 2021 Comparison and harmonisation between experimental analysis tools, push theory calculations, and eventually provide the experiments with well-defined recommendations for the use of the corresponding Monte Carlo tools in experimental analyses, already a substantial number of new developments from several groups (comparison of NLO MC, EW effects, off-shell effects) to be discussed in a sub-group meeting mid-June 2021 To be finalized
Offshell Harmonise ATLAS/CMS/Theory Guiding documentations (public note on arXiv) November 2020 Collecting contributions on models/EFTs and MG5_aMC to be discussed in a meeting end of June 2021. TWiki page: HiggsOffshellTaskForce
