(Re)interpreting the results of new physics searches at the LHC: notes from the general discussion on Dec 14, 2016

First of all, see the slides for the summary and discussion

Digitised information

  • Documentation of tables and plots on HEPData is extremely useful (robustness, versioning, ....)
    • make this as complete as possible
    • include expected signal from benchmark points (or SM expectation were relevant) used in the analysis
    • strong demand for making model input files, MC run cards, etc, available

  • CMS SUSY group policy of providing extensive material, incl. digitised plots etc., on preliminary results on twiki pages is highly appreciated.

  • Providing digitised information is `good practise’ also for theorists!

Feedback to experiments about (ease of) use of their results

  • We want to create a Launchpad-like questions & answers forum giving a “post-peer-review" (J. Butterworth) assessment of the completeness and usage of the material provided by the experiments

  • The big question is how and where to realise this (HEPData, public wiki, CDS, ....), see slides

How to go on

  • Integrate as much as possible in the upcoming PhysTeV 2017 workshop in Les Houches with a short meeting at CERN afterwards to report back on activities and progress done in LH.

  • General opinion from the audience was that future workshops of this forum should include small (parallel) working groups without making the meeting too long (3 days seems to be optimal)
