News
- Application Area meeting on PROOF
Pere would like to investigate (using a questionnaire) how much LHCb users are interested in a ROOT tutorial. After some discussion, it has been agreed that it should be based on PyROOT.
Marco Ca.: HBookSvc will be released until it breaks.
Software Releases
Gaudi (Hubert)
- Migrated to ROOT 5.11, POOL 2.4.3, CERNLIB 2005
- Removed occurrencies of SEAL plugin
- Patch on HashMap (compilation warning on Win32)
- Removed work-around in GOD for memory leak in boost allocators (not needed with new ROOT)
Philippe asked about usage of Castor2 with Gaudi v15r7. There is no change in Gaudi, the environment variables are set at the application level.
LHCb (Marco Ca.)
Gauss (Gloria)
- Florence is building Geant4 with one memory leak fixed (others pending)
- New Gauss will be based on the patched Geant4 and will have new generators for testing.
- The profiling done by IT on Gauss had shown that most of the time is spent in Geant stepping. Performances can be improved by tuning stepping parameters. IT will test different compilers too.
Boole (Marco Ca.)
- 3 crashes observed, but not in Boole code
Brunel (Marco Ca.)
- Released last week
- Working with Chris on particle Id: not for next week
Matt about tracking: found bugs, better understanding.
DaVinci (Juan)
- Working to get ready for DC06.
Panoramix (Thomas)
- see slides
presented on Monday.
- cannot work with matrices with PyROOT (posted on savannah).
Round Table
- Markus
- After the last POOL meeting, he has a few doubts that the connection failover mechanism implemented in CORAL will work.
- Florence
- Panoramix: compiled on Linux (fixed few things), Win32 does not compile (boost/mingw, Marco Ca. will give Florence the recipe to solve it).
Testing new version of CMT (binaries for AMD64 were missing).
- Philippe
- Next week is LHCb week. Presentations? Only Radu's one.
- Nick
- Marco Cl. should be contacted by GENSER developers for information about how to compile fot Win32 using WINE (first step to have a Win32 version of Gauss)
