News
- The LHCb Computing Project is now splitted in two: "Physics Software" and "Core Computing and Software"
- Core Computing and Software Project Leader is Philippe, the leaders for the sub-projects are
- Framework and Applications Integration: Marco Cattaneo
- Computing Operations: Nick Brook
- DIRAC: Andrei Tsaregorodtsev
- Distributed Analysis Framework: Ulrik Egede
- Computing Resource Coordinator: Umberto Marconi
- Marco Ca. will represent LHCb in the Architects Forum (Philippe will be present for GRID deployment issues)
- In the afternoon there will be a small meeting to discuss the plan for transient/persistent separation of event model classes.
- Gloria reminded that there will be some problem during the migration to the new HepMC (that does not use CLHEP any longer).
Software Releases
Gaudi (Hubert)
- Release notes ready
- Problem with LCGCMT tarballs and the LCGCMT InstallArea (we get twice the files). Will be fixed by changing the script to make the tarball (in LHCb).
- The problem in LCG_Policy for SLC 4.5 has been fixed
- Gaudi now works on AMD64 (tested with GaudiExamples)
LHCb, Boole, Brunel (Marco Ca.)
- The scheduled plan for the next release has been posted.
- GaudiObjDesc v10r0 (not for LHCb v22r6) will contain changes to customize the namespace of event classes and the modification for printing of enums
- RTTC versions of BOOL and Brunel will be archived
- the current way the projects are archived causes a loss of the hand-written HTML files containing the description of the version. Hubert will modify the script (we will have a page for archived version as the one in Gauss)
Gauss (Gloria)
- Work done from Cambridge to port Gauss to win32
- it will need the tar-ball for the win32 version of Geant4
- Next week version of Gauss will use newest Geant4 and Conditions Database
- Few problems with win32 version of some generators
DaVinci (Juan)
OnLine (Markus)
- v3r4, based on Gaudi v19r4, will be identical to v3r3 (= v3r2)
Round Table
- Markus
- concerned about the long term support for CORAL/POOL.
- Gloria
- still having problems with an annoying warning compiling Gauss because Geant4 uses a different version of Gaudi. Since Gaudi is only needed for GaudiPolicy, will try to use LCG_Policy instead.
- Marco Ca.
- HyperNews discussion has to be resurrected at some point.
- Philippe
- GRID middleware client libraries will be soon available for SLC4: we need to define the way we are going to use to pick up always the latest versions.
