Specific Topics

LHCb Scripts Project (Hubert)

Hubert presented his CMT-based project to organize and deploy the LHCb projects (setup scripts, tools, etc.).

Marco Ca.: Deployment plans?
We have 2 alternative plans:

  1. keep it in parallel for a while, so that the (power) users can test it
  2. change the default
The testers need instructions on how to start use it. Anyway, some of the features presented have not been released yet.

No relevant news.

Software Releases

Gaudi (Marco Cl.)

  • Bug-fix version of Gaudi (v20r1) to address the problems with Ganga 5.

LHCb, Boole, Brunel (Marco Ca.)

  • LHCb nearly ready, now in DEV. Currently fixing the problems on Win32.
  • The other projects will come along in the next days (tomorrow).

Gauss (Gloria)

  • Hubert deployed a version Gaudi based on an intermediate version of Geant4.
    • There is a problem on windows with one of the packages.
  • Now genconf works on Windows.
  • Next week, there will be a version based on the new LHCb: the one to be validated.
  • The HepMC2 compatibility hack seems to work with the current version of ROOT. We need some clean up, but it should be possible to migrate.

Marco Ca.: the new structure of the calorimeter will not be available because of problems in the integration in DDDB.

HLT (Patrick)

  • A lot of changes in HLT.
  • Calo chain for HLT2 needs new LHCb.

Online (Markus)

  • New version next week, mainly for the monitor service.

Marco Cl.: It would be good if Carmen's DIM service used to write into the PIT CondDB is releases within the Online project.

Release and Deployment (Hubert)

  • Many stacks released in the latest weeks.

Round Table

We are in commissioning week. It is going better than last time.
Prepared a small script and an adaptation of the .php scripts for the documentation of archived versions of the projects.
  • Not many reply to the request of comments on the File Summary Record. We should propose an implementation.
  • Simulation tags in the bookkeeping database.
After some discussion, we agreed to have the tag of the conditions database with a look-up table to map it to some properties of the generated events (energy, luminosity, magnet, etc.). The look-up table will be populated when the CondDB tag is prepared (Marco Cl. will prepare a script to extract the information from SIMCOND).
Need to have some more information in the MDF header. Markus will help.
