LHCb Core Software Meeting

Date and Location

10:30 - 11:30
CERN (2-R-030)

Gloria, Hubert, Illya, Joel, Juan (EVO), Karol, Marco Ca., Marco Cl. (minutes), Markus, Patrick (EVO), Rob, Silvia

  • Application Area Meeting in the afternoon
    • CINT, LLVM and cling: The past and the future.
  • LCG 57 has been announced, but the tarballs are not ready
    • Karol: the tcmalloc package still creates problems for the profiling. It may be fixed at some point with the correct set of compilation flags.
Marco Ca. since we are the only one using LCG 57 and the profiling libraries will not be used in production, we can afford to have a fix in place.
  • (Marco Ca.) During the Tuesday meeting it has been announced a restructuring of the software projects. PPG will discuss the details.
  • (Marco Ca.) Asked for a couple of techincal fellows to help on the nightlies (the dead line was yesterday)

Software Releases

Gaudi (Marco Cl.)

  • Gaudi v21r5 released (the missing tarballs of LCG 57 prevent deployment and build on Windows)
  • Now the restructuring of the repository can be done.
Marco Ca.: be sure that the nightlies are not affected.

LHCb, Boole, Brunel (Marco Ca.)

Gauss (Gloria)

  • Gauss v37r6 + DecFiles (MC09) to be released at the end of the week
  • (Silvia) Preparing v38r0
    • Hubert: the link problem with the function TIME is because it has been removed in F90.

HLT (Patrick)

  • Released on Monday (only for FEST)

DaVinci (Juan)

  • No DaVinci on the just released Hlt, will wait until next LHCb

Round Table

Marco Cl.
It seems that some (simple) changes are needed for the ODIN bank in this FEST.
  • Marco Cl. updated his generic Makefile to work on Windows provided that a few Unix tools are installed. The tools will be distributed with the next version of the Compat project
  • The new version of the Compat project includes libopenssl, libcrypto and libaio (needed by the Oracle client)
  • It is planned to move DIRAC to SVN at the beginning of November
  • From the Linux certification meeting:
    • it seems we will need to distribute binutils (see ticket CT631203)
    • when selecting the rpms to install on the lxbuild machines, it is now possible to use "groups" of packages
New release of SQLDDDB (v5r13)
