Subjects

News

  • Database Futures Workshop held on Monday and Tuesday.
    • no big news
    • we are not the only one hoping for a MySQL service, but we may need to decide if we want to make an official request
    • private chat with Dave Dykstra, who suggested that we can share the CMS Frontier infrastructure (server and proxies)
    • the panorama of NoSQL databases is too wide and there is not a single application that fits all needs, so it's technically impossible for CERN to start a service
    • Oracle streams will be replaced with "data guards" once Oracle 11g will be in production
  • The ROOT 5.30 preview tag (they create a dedicated branch one month before the release) should have been tested during the night, but there has been a problem in the LCG configuration.
  • (Marco Ca.) Deadline for abstracts for ACAT 2011 2 July 2011
    • we should be more proactive: think about possible projects to submit

Round Table

Marco Cl.

  • Failures in the nightlies (reference file mismatch) because of task #20172: changed the content of an INFO message that should be demoted to DEBUG.
  • For the AF: will ask to change the SLC5 compiler to gcc4.5 and start nightly builds on SLC6 gcc4.5.

Marco Ca.

  • Report the problems of reliability of CVMFS to the AF.
  • Shell we have a release of Gaudi?
    • (Marco Cl.) no relevant changes and no need to rush (we need proper testing for Sasha's patch). Rob's patch for backward compatibility of options with the new ROOT conversion service is the only candidate for inclusion, but it is not clear yet if really needed.

Hubert

  • The (unused) package LCG_Compat has been removed for the next version of LCGCMT.
  • LbScripts v6r2 in production ASAP
    • planning to change the configuration for the grid certificate revocation lists (once it is confirmed that the CVMFS directory is kept up to date)
    • still problems in the environment of CERNVM
  • Should we try the new version of CMT?
No, unless it promise to bring improvements we need (e.g. speed up in build/setup).

Thomas

  • Coverity build (no commit) worked fine yesterday.
  • Fixed a problem with the RSS feeds of the nightly build, which have been broken for about one month with nobody noticing.
We need proper monitoring of nightly builds themselves.

Illya

  • Minor optimization of the configuration of the access to the Online partition snapshots.

Joel

  • Cleaning of Online shared area planned for the next days.
  • Installed debug version of glibc on lxbuild157 (requested by Markus). It can be installed also on the other lxbuild machines if needed.
