News
- TEG Summary Workshop in Amsterdam
- Monday was devoted to Deployment
Agreed to make CVMFS a requirement for all sites, but worries about the amount of cache used and how often is invalidated (e.g. for our conditions)
- ITUM
on the 2nd of February
- Intel/OpenLab Performance Workshop
February 15th-16th
- Deadline for Summer Student projects is the 7th of February
- The projects should be added as savanna tasks under LHCb physics software
, so that they can be reused if not assigned.
Round Table
Marco Cl.
- Tagged Gaudi v23r0
- since last week: updated RootCnv, added 'pseudo' CMTCONFIG '*-test' (equivalent to '*-opt', but for extra tunings), added locks (thread-safety) in ServiceManager::service (Illya)
- Marco Ca.: it is not tested in the nightlies; Marco Ca. will update the configuration to use the new tag in lhcb-head (to be checked the status of gcc4.6).
- Marco Ca.: it is not possible/easy to view the release notes of Gaudi until the release.
Marco Cl. will prepare the release web page
immediately and think about a better way for later
- Problems with ROOT head since Saturday (bug #90762
, bug #90875
)
Marco Ca.
- Planned release of LHCb next week
- Issue with incidents fired twice, by RootCnvSvc and IODataManager. We need consolidation in the error/incident handling sector.
- Update on the Programme of Work
- Prepared a twiki page accessible from the LHCbComputing page ProgrammeOfWork (not yet announced)
- We should review the tasks and set new priorities every 3 months (more or less)
- Rob sent a document on Tag Collector requirements.
Illya
- CondDB Deployment
- the automatic update of the http pages has been running for the last 36 hours, with automatic installation on CVMFS
- Marco Cl. we can trigger the installation on grid shared areas of SQLDDDB v7r2 to pre-heat local copies.
- Marco Ca. we can produce a patched version of DaVinci, using SQLDDDB v7r*, and start a test production before enabling the new system for every job.
- GaudiParallelizer (a sequencer that executes algorithms in parallel)
- prototype ready to be committed to SVN, to which package? either GaudiPatches or a new package
Ben
- Contacted by IT to know the contact person in LHCb to coordinate the migration of the CVMFS installation machine.
- Profiling
- we can gain few % with gcc 4.6 and few more with -O3
- setting up to use the new '*-test' CMTCONFIG
- we need better reporting of the profiling to make it easier to run more iterations
- Monitoring
- Stefan mentioned that somebody wrote Lemon sensors for the nightlies, which might be resurrected (to check)
- we may use a combination of SLS and Lemon for our monitoring
- Marco Ca.: collaborate with Stefan, who is reviewing the production monitoring (we may re-use the same infrastructure)
- LHCb Deployment savannah
- will remove obsolete platforms and add the new ones.
- CVMFS on lxplus
- we need testing on a controlled environment before making the change public. We can use an IT virtual machine.
- Clean up of LbScripts savannah backlog
- discussed with Rob and Patrick (main customers) what could be closed and what is low priority.
Markus
- Soon start debugging deferred HLT
Thomas
- Need to discuss with Joel to get some TCP ports open on the build servers for the monitoring
- Marco Ca.: do we have enough resources to add the new platforms? (gcc46) It should not be a problem.
