  • Switch of the lxplus alias to SLC6
    • lxplus(6) reported to be very slow
    • LBCORE-128
    • problem with the configuration (e.g. CASTOR)
    • Markus does have problems with the login scripts

    • LCGCMT 65 not yet released... (ROOT 5.34.07 might be included)
    • Discussion on a new versioning scheme for the externals (simplify and remove the "_python26" type of extensions) (see LBCORE-120)

  • Nightly Builds: waiting for lxbuild119
    • Ben: we do not need anything anymore for installing on CVMFS, because we will use a virtual machine for it
    • Joel: still a problem with the server HTTPS certificate
    • investigating the possibility of a database backed implementation of the dashboard (AKA summary page)
  • Migration to JIRA (LBCORE-120)
    • Victor is currently busy, so we have to wait a bit
    • we will start testing with Gaudi, LBCORE and CondDB, followed by LHCb Deployment
  • Implementation of the replacement for SetupProject for CMake (LBCORE-12)
    • 2 new tools: lb-run and lb-dev
    • one more tool to come: lb-setup
    • some fundamental differences between the new tools and SetupProject, some can be removed, some not (see the comments and the worklog in LBCORE-12)
  • The code to access the compressed DB has been released with the latest LHCb. Now I reorganized the code so that it lives in one single library and and I will prepare builds of that library for all the versions of LHCb used in productions, to be added to the environment via Compat.


  • Working on the improvement of the visualization in LHCbPR (LBCORE-72)


  • Several support requests following the SLC6 switch
  • Discussing the deployment of HEPOSLib RPM: we should not ask to have it on SLC5, better to switch to SLC6
  • volhcb34 moved to SLC6: improvements in the performances (~5%)
  • Working on the implementation of the SoftConfDB in Neo4J


  • Put in production the new LHCbDirac
  • Try to keep the control of the versions of the middleware (now they have a good RSS feed).
  • Opened a ticked because /cvmfs/grid.cern.ch does not work on SLC6 (not up to date? for sure not in sync with AFS).
  • Installed a new package on volhcb34 to play with CPU frequency
  • Start to evaluate some FAQ software to be shared between LHCb and Dirac.


  • Testing improvements of performances switching from double to float (preserving correctness).
