News

  • Release of LCG 68 and 68_root6
  • Gaudi v25r1 and v25r1p1 tagged, build and packages
  • Ben: they cannot be deployed yet (lack of space
  • Annual Concurrency Forum Meeting next week
    • Illya will present his work on GaudiHive alternative scheduling
  • No Core Software Meeting next week

Updates on actions of last week

  • Ben: Move getNightlyRefs.py to LbScripts, done: LBCORE-435
  • Discussion about sensors and alarms postponed
  • LBCORE-446 created to track status of migration of Conf DB to Neo4J

Round Table

Marco Cl.

  • CMake migration
    • all projects do have a CMake configuration
    • few validations still pending
  • ROOT 6
    • once the parallel stacks on LCG 68 and LCG 68_root6 will be deployed to CVMFS, we need to start some mini productions to with both of them for the validation

Joel

  • Discussion to detect cvmfs or afs during login to correctly configure Dirac (certificates location)

Gloria

  • Fix G4examples still missing. Marco Cl. will work on it today.

Marco Ca.

  • Releases up to Brunel coming, DaVinci not ready yet

Illya

  • Preparing the presentation for the Concurrency Forum.

Marco Ca.: it would be nice to have a summary of the Concurrency Forum at the LHCb Analysis Week (Pere?)

Ben

  • Released new version LbScripts to be able to use LCGCMT_68 (required a change in the CMTPROJECTPATH)
  • Problem with the ROOT 6 branch of LCGCMT: using '_' in the version number is causing troubles in all our deployment tools

Marco Cl.: The preparation of LCG 68 was affected by a few major modifications all happening at the same time: switch to RPM generation, use the CMake based build of the externals, and build ROOT with CMake instead of "configure && make". All these changes were never really tested against user code, so all the issues appeared at the same time, with the fixes that uncovered other issues. Some of the changes should have been tested in the nightlies, but, for some reason, it was not done (possibly lack of manpower/pressure).
I'll try to ensure that in the future this changes are properly tested early enough.
I also want to thank Ben and Benedikt to the great work they did to achieve this big result in one week.

Liang

  • Finalizing the configuration for the Conditions Database for the split Hlt.

Anastasia

  • Studied DD4hep documentation
  • Working to prepare a minimal detector description (O(1) detectors) to understand how the DD4hep library works

Gloria: we have a minimal geometry (3 sensitive planes) that is used in Gauss for testing. This could be a good candidate to evaluate the integration with Gaudi.

Rob

  • Tag collector being slow (SVN interface). Marco Ca.: SVN authentication has been slow and unreliable in the past week.
  • Working on some test wrappers to simplify interactions with the tests in the nightly builds.
  • Writing some documentation (delegating, if possible).

Sebastien

  • Working to replace the configurables database with ASCII files, but the files will have to go to 'lib'.
