Setup ECLIPSE

Quick guide:

  • Install Eclipse and pydev on your machine
  • Configure Eclipse to use spaces rather than tabs in Python code and to 2 spaces for indentation:
    • Open Window > Preferences > Pydev > Editor (on Mac: File > Preferences > Pydev > Editor)
    • Set Tab length to 2
    • Make sure "Replace tabs with spaces when typing?" is checked
    • Uncheck "Assume tab spacing when files contain tabs?" so that you detect tabs in files that should not have them
  • Set Python interpreter in Open Window > Preferences > Pydev
    • 2.5, at least until DIRAC v5r11
  • Open Pydev perspective
  • File > new > pydev project
    • Optionally, you can set workspace as "/afs/cern.ch/user/f/fstagni/cmtuser/Dirac_[version]/DIRAC" if you installed on afs and work on lxplus
  • install subversive
    • If you installed galileo:click
    • connector: svnkit 1.3.0 r5847 (for SVN 1.6.2)
  • Add Eclipse to the PYTHONPATH:
    • project properties -> pydev pythonpath, external libraries
