Minutes of the Data Quality Meeting of Friday 29 August 2008
Procedure
Patrick presented a second iteration of the DQ procedure, shifts and meetings
slides
, as shown at
yesterdays OPG meeting
. Some people expressed concerns about the big additional burden this would cause of the subdetectors, who already have a lot of shifts and other things to do. The DQ meeting is supposed to be the place where information the knowledge transfer from the pit to the software people happens. This can only work if the subdetector and DQ people meet and discuss problems. This is also the place where tow levels of data quality are dicussed: whether the data is good enough for processing and whether it is good enough for stripping and physics. The first decidion has to be made quickly on a day-by-day basis. The second will take longer.
It was also decided to have the meetings daily, not only on week days. About the location of the meeting, it was not clear whether the offline control room or the pit would be the best place. The meeting would be open via
evo
anyway, so maybe one should organise for the pit to connect.
Velo DQ
Chris on behalf of Eduardo made a very impressive
presentation
of the status of velo DQ.
Problems database
We decided to follow the example of the rich, and create mailing lists named
lhcb-xxxx-dataquality@cernNOSPAMPLEASE.ch for the various subsystem (xxxx) data quality lists.
Patrick will investigate with the DQ contact people and create the lists.
Calibration procedure
Philippe has made a
proposal for how calibration jobs would happen. Please read it and send comments to the DQ mailing list.
Bookkeeping
The interface of the new bookkeeping will be ready soon to be tested. At the beginning of data taking the old and new bookkeeping databases will be populated before the old can be phased out.
Next meeting
Next week is LHCb week and the Friday 11h slot is not available. We will try to find another time.
Workshop
On Wednesday 17/9 there will be a
one day DQ workshop
. All subdetectors please contribute.
