The ECS for the L0 trigger is associated to the PVSS project L0_TRIGGER. It is linked to the L0DU_CU, TCALO_DAQ and the TMU_A and TMU_C ECS control nodes. The 3 L0 subsystems can be controlled from the TRG_ECS node of this project .

The ECS for the L0 MUON is associated to PVSS project L0_MUON.

To use the ECS both projects should be running and their nodes should have been started.

How to start ECS to use the L0 MUON?

  • Make sure the PVSS project L0_MUON is running and the TMU_A and TMU_C nodes are running (see below How to start side A or side C control nodes?)
  • Start the PVSS project L0_TRIGGER.
  • Start the Device Editor Navigator from the project console.
  • In the Device Editor Navigator window select the FSM tab, select the TRG_ECS, right click on it and select Start/Restart tree
  • In the Device Editor Navigator window FSM tab, select the TRG_ECS, right click on it and select View, the ECS control window opens. You can navigate down in the components by double clicking on the nodes buttons.
  • Take the control of the ECS by left clicking on the TRG_ECS node lock icon and selecting Take.
  • In the bottom of the panel select the side(s) you want to use TMU_A and/or TMU_C and exclude all the one you dont want to use (most often they are L0DU_CU and TCALO_DAQ). Left click on the nodes lock icons and select Include or LockOut.
  • From the top level node TRG_ECS use the ALLOCATE command to get ressources.
  • Once the ressources have been allocated you can send the CONFIGURE and then START or STOP or RESET commands to drive the L0 MUON in its different possible states.

How to start side A or side C control nodes?

  • Start the PVSS project L0_MUON.
  • Start the Device Editor Navigator from the project console.
  • In the Device Editor Navigator window select the FSM tab, select the TMU_DAQ, right click on it and select Start/Restart tree
  • If you want to see the nodes states: in the Device Editor Navigator window FSM tab, select the TMU_DAQ node, right click on it and select View, the ECS control window opens. You can navigate down in the components by double clicking on the nodes buttons in this panel or in the corresponding buttons that are also visible in the TRG_ECS panels.

How to quickly navigate in the trigger boards state panels?

  • Shortcuts have been imlemented in all WINDOWS console machines of the control room. Under the directory G:\online\ecs\Shortcuts\TRG use the TMUDAQC_UI_FSM shortcut.
