Simulation in LHCb

This page is intended to aid those required to produce the MC Requests Report at the PPTS Meetings.

Introduction

Approximately every two weeks, a report on the status and progress of the MC Simulaiton requests should be presented at the PPTS meeting. You should:

  • Indicate which productions have completed in the last two weeks.
  • List the Currently active productions and their progress.
  • List the queued productions in order of their priority.
  • Present a plot of the throughput of the MC jobs in the production system.
  • Identify or suggest requests which should have their priority increased due to the amount of time since submission, pressing deadlines, etc.

Prerequisites

You must have a grid certificate, from a recognised Certificate Authority (CA):

Tools

Principally, you should use the production tools as "lhcb_shifter" to gather data:

Note you will have to have your certificate "loaded" into your browser to view these pages.

Presenting Data

Once you've assessed the status of the production requests, you may want to make some plots in order to highligh specific features.

Tools are currently being developed which should allow the request information to be exported as a CSV file. You should then be able to import that CVS file into whatever program you wish to generate the various plots.
