HW commissioning

HV crates

Currently there is one crate from production registered on the network database: LBRICH-CAEN-SY4527-01 (details at https://network.cern.ch/sc/fcgi/sc.fcgi?Action=SearchForDisplay&DeviceName=LBRICH-CAEN-SY4527-01) and LBRICH-CAEN-SY4527-01.

Network configuration

For a new crate, you first need to register the new device in the network database (https://landb.cern.ch/landb/portal/device/registerDevice). The name should follow the convention LBRICH-CAEN-SY4527-## (where ## is an incremental number). For the other settings, follow what you can find at https://network.cern.ch/sc/fcgi/sc.fcgi?Action=SearchForDisplay&DeviceName=LBRICH-CAEN-SY4527-01. Once your device is registered, ask for a fixed IP interface. You will receive the network settings once the request will be processed.
The following procedure is valid from scratch or when resetting the crate (connect a USB-keyboard to the crate and keep pressed ctrl-alt-del until you hear three sounds from the crate).
Connect the crate to a PC via ethernet. Type the default address (192.168.0.1) in a browser. Go to Setting Menu -> DHCP Server and stop and disable DHCP. Move to Setting Menu -> Networking and set Method Manual, and type the new IP address and the netmask. Click save (you will be redirected to the new IP and you will loose the connection to crate). Turn the crate off. Plug the ethernet cable to the corresponding outlet. Turn the crate on and ping the crate from a PC with the same netmask as the crate. Type the new IP in a browser and change the other settings (gateway, hostname and dns). Click save.

Communication via OPC-UA server

Move to the run directory of the OPC-UA server. Modify the config.xml to the new IP address. Run the OPC-UA server in the discovery mode and check the communication is ok. Then you can declare the full configuration and run in Full mode. Note that for a successful communication between the OPC-UA server and the client you need to know the url endpoint and the name declared on the config file must be the same of the device declared in WinCC.
