LogBook Configuration Details

  • A user and a group, both named logbook have been created.
  • Software for the logbook (daemons, etc.) can be placed in the logbook group directory.
  • After the initial testing phase, please try not run services from the NFS automounted directories - a local installation is preferred.
  • A volume with an initial capacity of 100 GB (expandable) is exported from nfs01 (a.k.a. store01) to web01 exclusively.
  • This volume is mounted under /logbookroot on lbweb01.
  • Only members of group logbook have access to this directory on lbweb01.
  • Membership to group logbook is restricted to users logbook, ocallot, and eric.
  • Daemons and services should preferably run as service-only (login disabled) account logbook.
  • Other users in group logbook must first type newgrp logbook to change their primary group to logbook before attempting to access /logbookroot.
