Short summary and decisions

  • Feedback from proposal writing course at CERN: 1.5 days training, organized by 'Yellow Projects', followed by Antonio and Christian. Trainer works also as EU reviewer for (FP7) ITN proposals. Overall very positive. It was interesting to learn how reviewers read the proposals (4h available for reading and report writing). Useful course documentation incl 3 example propsoal. PACMAN from CERN is apparently considered a very good example.

  • Consortium: CAEN will be full beneficiary. Interest in developping and commercialising a small scale fibre detector, e.g. for educational and testing purpopses. Contact person: Alessandro Iovene, project manager for research projects. CAEN is currently already involved in 2 Marie Curie actions, however this would be the first time that they are full partner in a training network. Potential problem: The recent Swiss referendum about free movement of persons may delay or prevent the signature of the contract which associates Switzerland to the H2020 program. This may mean that EPFL can't be a full partner. We need to think of a plan B.

  • Proposal, draft 0. Editing work by Antonio, Guido and Antonio. Keywords and some text parts are now available for the 3 main chapters: Excellence, Impact and Implementation. A work package list is proposed. Still lacking some input, e.g. job descriptions. All partners are requested to read the draft 0 and provide feedback before the weekend!

* Current progress is behind the plan. We need to get a bit more dynamic.

  • Next steps:
    • CAEN to send a draft job description and capacity table
    • Complete and harmonise job descriptions ==> all
    • Work on list of milestones and deliverables. Approx. 3 deliverables per WP plus a number of milestones leading to the deliverable. ==> Pascal
    • Work on text of chapters 2,3,4 ==> Christian, Antonio, Guido
    • Read about EU Research & Innovation policy and extract useful aspects for proposal
    • Look at infrastructure in SciFi partners (incl. associated ones) and demonstrate full coverage of needs and complementarity (graphical representation?).

  • Next meeting: Wednesday, 26 Feb., 9:00. The goal is to have draft 1 ready on the day before.
