Overview of the VELO modules via PVSS

A PVSS panel that provides users with a quick overview of the status of all the modules in the VELO has been created. There are currently two preliminary versions of the overview panel. They can be accessed via the VELO: TOP panel. Click on the VELO User Panel button, and from there click on Summary.

The information on each VEKI module is displayed in a short column. Measured values from the temperature sensors, the Low voltage and the High voltage are shown, with background colors indicating the status.

Blue= off

Green= on

Orange= on, but a potential problem. Place the mousecursor over the text field to see a tooltip

Yellow=on and high values measured

Red=on and very high or nonsensical values measured

Please note that the background colors are not yet matched to the actual values used in the interlock. A red value means a measured value that is higher than normal and bears watching, but it is not neccisarily dangerous for the modules.

The first two fields show the highest of the 2 Repeater Location (R.L.) temperature sensors and the highest of the two NTC sensors respectively. The next 3 values show the currents from the low voltage crates. The last 2 values show voltage and current of the high voltage supply. Note that the 'Current'-field will be displayed in Green if the measured voltage is high enough, even if the current is low.

By pressing the button with the name of the module on top of each column, the user can open a trending page with plots of that module displayed. Here the measured voltage of the low voltage crate (Graph 1 by default), the current in the LV crate (Graph 2), the high voltage (Graph 3) and the 4 temperature sensors will be displayed.

The user can also select different information to be displayed in this panel. One can chose with the drop-down boxes at the top of the panel which module's information is displayed. If the user choses the 'Both' option under the 'Hybrid' tab, the LV voltages and 2 of the 4 temperature sensors are not displayed. Note that unlike in the overview panel, the temperatures shown are not always the highest ones. After selecting which module needs to be displayed, press the display button.

By default, all the information of a single module is displayed. From the display tab, the user may also choose to show the values of a single sensor for all modules. Alternatively, one can also chose to make a custom plot, displaying up to 8 parameters of the users choosing.

Current issues:

-As stated, the background colors are currently only indicators. In the final version, the background colors should change at levels that are actually significant, e.g. a red background should mean a value that triggers the interlock.

-The pressure and cooling information is not yet available.
