How to create a new TCK based on an existing one

Assume you want to change TCK 0x80650000 (Moore v7r5, PA+HLT1)

It includes the VELO closing lines at a prescale of 1. To get something more realistic, log in onto a plus node, and do:

su - hlt_oper (#ask Gerhard or Eric for the password
cd /group/hlt/MOORE
source v7r5 # verify you've got the environment for Moore v7r5!!!

next, start TCKsh, and do the following:

patch4 = { 'id' : 'f9e0ba18e265fd9e63e1e481c611d715'
          , 'updates' : { 'Hlt1VeloASidePreScaler' :
{ 'AcceptFraction':'0.0001' }
                        , 'Hlt1VeloCSidePreScaler' :
{ 'AcceptFraction':'0.0001' }
          , 'label'    : 'ODINRandom accept=0.1, TELL1Error accept=0,

cas = ConfigAccessSvc(Mode='ReadWrite')
newID = updateProperties(patch4['id'], patch4['updates'], patch4
createTCKEntries( { 0x80670000 : newID }, cas=cas )

at this point, do

cd $HLTTCKROOT/cmt ; cmt make # this updates the tar file and index of known TCKs for all releases
cd $MOOREROOT/cmt ; cmt make # this (amongst others) copies the list of TCKs for 'this' version of MOORE to the InstallArea

at which point, if you look in /group/hlt/MOORE/Moore_v7r5/InstallArea/TCK/manifest you should now see the new TCK 0x80670000 appear; and since this is the file used by PVSS to populate the popup menu, you can now select this configuration.

N.B. 1: f9e0... is the ID corresponding to TCK 0x8065000. To figure this out start TCKsh, and type listConfigurations()

N.B. 2: Note the 4 low bits are for L0, the high bits are for HLT. If you accidentally create a wrong TCK, to really, really remove the entry for all eternity, just do rm $HLTTCKROOT/config/Aliases/TCK/0x00021409, and repeat the 2 makes above.

(so basicaly, bypass all of the software, as that will just NOT allow this on purpose, but go directly to the filesystem wink
