Radiation Length Studies in Gauss

This tool consists in a few scripts that fire neutrino particle guns through the LHCb detector.

A thin plane is located after each sub-detector to mark specific points.

While going though the detector neutrinos record the radiation and interaction length of the material they traspassed at each step.

When the neutrino reaches one of the thin planes the radiation and interaction length information is saved.

Neutrinos are used in order to avoid interaction and bending in magnetic field.

How to use

To use the tool first getpack it and then you only need to run the Run_RadLenScan.py script

getpack Sim/SimChecks

SetupProject Gauss vXXrY --dev
rad_length_scan

"rad_length_scan" is an alias. If you want to getpack and run the code directly you can do it by

getpack Sim/SimChecks HEAD
cd Sim/SimChecks/scripts/
python rad_length_scan.py

This will create plots in the "plots" folder with 2D profiles of interaction and radiation length and also 2 files rad(inter)_length.txt containing a table of average radiation(interaction) length across all (eta, phi) plane.

An other script is available "rad_length_scan_velo_z.py". This allows you to run with VELO only and varying the position of the origin vertex.
