Routing from the Farm PCs to the Storage Cluster

This is a full description of all network configuration that needs to be done for packets to be able to travel from the farm PCs all the way to the Storage Cluster up on SX8. The physical connections are as follows (the example given is for Rack D1E04) :

sw-d1e04-d1 (the farm rack data switch in D1E04) ==> sw-d2b01-s1 (the storage switch in D2 for the E rack row) ==> sw-d2b07 (the storage aggregation switch) ==> sw-ux-01 (controls switch in D3) ==> sw-sx-01 (controls switch in SX-8) ==> sw-storecluster-01

Before going on to the routing tables, please note:

  • The data switches in the racks in D1 are all configured as routers.

  • The storage switches sw-d2b01-s1 to sw-d2b05-s1 and the storage aggregation switch sw-d2b07-s1 are all configured as switches.

  • Apart from the management ports, all other ports are in the same VLAN for the storage switches as well as the storage aggregation switch.

  • The routes defined below are only the static routes that need to be defined (implicit routes created by VLAN IP assignments are not mentioned here)

Routes are defined as follows:

sw-sx-01 Po 2 Route from sw-ux-01 to STOREVLAN on data switches
All Storage Cluster PCs (whichever interface is on the data network)
