LHCb STEP'09: Scale Testing for the Experiment Program in 2009

Introduction

STEP'09 is a co-ordinated effort of all 4 experiments for running as much activity as possible simultaneously. The aim is to exercise at nominal rate the real data recording (Tier0), transfer (Tier0->Tier1), reconstruction (Tier0+Tier1 for LHCb, Tier0 for others) as well as re-processing (Tier0+Tier1 from data not present on the disk cache, i.e. recalled from tape) and simulation.

In LHCb, the well established FEST'09 setup will be used for mimicking the real data taking. For re-processing, FEST data has to be distributed before STEP starts to all Tier1s, and then removed from the disk cache such that reconstruction jobs recall files from tape.
