Task List for New Arrivals

For newly arriving people at the Point 8 Assembly Hall (Bldg 3852) the following items should be completed BEFORE arrival, if possible. If you have any questions, email b.leverington@cernNOSPAMPLEASE.ch

Introduction

The SciFi homepage can be found here: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LHCb/UpgradeSciFiTracker. Additional information can usually be found there including phone numbers for the responsible.

The LHCb home page is here: http://lhcb.web.cern.ch/lhcb/

Registration

Complete the Cern User Registration procedure and the LHCb registration form. Submit them to the appropriate secretariats. This must be completed before anything else. Get the medical certificate for the Radiation Dosimeter (below) before traveling to CERN, if needed.

The PC in the assembly hall uses your CERN username and password for login credentials.

Send an email f you wish to be added to the ! SciFi assembly hall mailing list, lhcb-scifi-assembly. me to lhcb-scifi-assembly&body=Hello, could you add me to lhcb-scifi-assembly mailing list?

Door Access

After you have picked up your access badge from the CERN user's office, request door access rights in ADAMS to:

Description Code Physicist Tech./Eng.
LHCb Surface Buildings LHCB_S required required
LHCb Underground LHCB_U required maybe
Assembly Hall 3852-R-001 required required
LHCb Control Room 3862-R-001 required
LHCb Workshop (special request only) LHCB_W   required
Swiss/French Border Tunnel T maybe maybe
If asked for a reason: "Installation and Assembly of the SciFi Tracker."

Radiation Dosimeter

You will need this to go underground, but not in the Assembly hall. Follow the instructions here.

A Short Term Dosimeter is available at CERN for up to 2 months total per year without a medical certificate.

A Long Term Dosimeter requires a signed "Certificate for associated members of the personnel (Institute Certificate)" signed by the Radiation Safety Officer of your Home Institute. This usually requires a checkup by a doctor to get.

COVID-19 Requirements

a person must

1. pass the Covid-19 CERN safety training

Information: https://hse.cern/content/access-cern-covid-19

Safety course: https://lms.cern.ch/ekp/servlet/ekp?CID=EKP000043435&TX=FORMAT1&BACKTOCATALOG=Y&DECORATEPAGE=N

2. a person must register and get a proximity detector: https://proximeter-dist.web.cern.ch(an appointment is recommended, but not required)

3. Receive CERN approved PPE (masks, etc) from Sune Jakobsen upon arrival at Point 8. All medical masks (surgical, FFP2+) are allowed for external users.
