June 4th Update
The first task: To estimate the Flex cable length (my suggested version), will come Thurs June 6
th.
In terms of our schedule (for the HEP Imperial workshop & HEP imperial Design Office), we will proceed with two physical models, both are for the Mono-layer, Perpendicular End Cap (MLPEC).
MLPEC_01: A quarter length End Cap, for 4 siPms. Simply to show people that cannot visualize the CAD.
MLPEC_02:: full length End Cap, for 16
SiPMs.
It is important to remember that these “models” aim to aid visualization and general understanding. For example, they will not connect to a cooling rig. My CAD models will be presentable to our workshop on Friday 7
th(Discussion Monday 10
th).
1) Production of “End Cap Model _01” starts on Monday 10
th June.
2) Assembly & presentation of “End Cap Model_01” scheduled on Friday 28
th June.
3) Procurement of materials and components for “End Cap Model_02” will take place In parallel with #1. & #2.
4) Production of “End Cap Model_02” scheduled to start Monday 1
st July.
5) Production of Alignment jigs for “End Cap Model_02” planned to run in parallel with #5.
6) Test assembly of “End Cap Model_02” to be reviewed The week starting 22
nd July.
7) Assembly of “End Cap Model_02” scheduled to take place July end\August beginning.
8) August will see reduced manpower availability.
9) Review in-house status at the end of August.
10) During all of the above, the design will develop and design effort will be ongoing.
Areas for attention:
- Simplification.
- Manufacturability.
- Assembly.
- Bonding requirements\sequence.
- Positioning jigs\fixtures (already discussed with our workshop).
- Handling jigs\fixtures (already discussed with our workshop). In Parallel:
- Material selection (the real materials).
- Temperature compensation (accuracy Vs Over constraining).
- Flatness of the long carriers and possible distortions for SiPM plane.
