Proposed geometry for simulation studies

Configurations for LS3

These configurations are suggested as baseline for performance studies with Upgrade 1b (2 * 10^33 /cm^2/s) luminosity.

Minimal variant ("option 1"): This is the minimal solution, only 32 new innermost modules are added. The other existing modules are rearranged:

32 modules with 1.5 x 1.5 cm^2 cells (new)
176 modules with 4 x 4 cm^2 cells
448 modules with 6 x 6 cm^2 cells
2656 modules with 12 x 12 cm2 cells

Baseline solution ("option 2"): Here two new regions of new modules are introduced surrounding the beam pipe. The existing modules are rearranged. This leads to five regions in total:

32 modules with 1.5 x 1.5 cm^2 cells (new)
144 modules with 3 x 3 cm^2 cells (new)
176 modules with 4 x 4 cm^2 cells
448 modules with 6 x 6 cm^2 cells
2512 modules with 12 x 12 cm2 cells

A ROOT file is available containing the arrangement of different module types for these two geometries: ECAL_LS3_options.root (last changed: 02.09.2020). The total number of modules is 3312 in both options.

Configuration for LS4

This configuration is suggested as baseline for performance studies with Upgrade 2 (2 * 10^34 /cm^2/s) luminosity.
