The Temperature System
Introduction
The Temperature System control software is part of the Velo DCS; it runs on vedcs01w (windows) under the velo_user account.
Temperature Boards
- Log on to a Windows console in the online network (LHCb domain).
- Open the following directory: G:\online\ecs\Shortcuts\VELO
- Double click on VEECS1_UI_FSM. The following panel will pop up:
- Browse to the A(C) Temperature System:

- Right-click on VELOA(C)_DCS_TB to get the corresponding panel:

- Each Velo side contains three Temperature Boards; in the panel you can check the ELMB state (OPERATIONAL, PREOPERATIONAL, STOPPED and ERROR) and the status of the interlocks for each board. As soon as an interlock comes, the corresponding led becomes red: see here to menage an interlocks event. By clicking on one Temperature Board, the corresponding panel will pop up:

- Informations about the ELMB state, the interlock state are desplayed here as well. A distribution of the Temperature with respect of the sensor number (NTC) is shown. It is possible toi change view to get a temperature distribution:

Troubleshooting
It may happen that the status of the ELMB is DISCONNECTED. Most probably, the control crate on the Velo balcony is off and the connection between the machine and the ELMB is broken. To check that the problem is hardware related, please follow this procedure:
- Log on the Windows machine where the project runs (vedsc01w).
- Open the following directory: C:\CANopenOPC\Tools
- Run WINhost+.exe
- Open port number 2:

- The following panel will pop up:

- From the menu Bus, select Scan: if the comunication is working, you should see that the number of nodes is 6.
