Testbeam from November 2015

This section will summarise the main documents, informations and results of the November 2015 testbeam for EPFL. A fibre based telescope and a BGV module was installed in the testbeam area. The working principle and the geometry will be specified below. The measurement logbook can be found here. The data can be found on the lphe cluster under /panfs/scifi_testbeam/November2015 . The data files were rename to correspond to the software standard. The correspondance can be found here.

The installation for the analysis program on the cluster can be done following this procedure.

Telescope

The telescope is based on scintillating fibres coupled to SiPMs. The fibres are 10cm long. A mirror is added at on end to increase the light yield The telescope is composed by 5 detection planes (called stations) each composed by two layers (x and y).

The following formula is used to determined the proper resolution σy :

(Residual)^2 = σy^2 +σt^2

The 18 μm track resolution at the central station is estimated through a simulation. The other track resolution are extrapolated from it.

Goals

The goals of this testbeam were:

  • Measure the light yield and cluster size of the telescope and the BGV module
  • Get the resolution of the telescope stations
  • Get a track resolution
  • Get the BGV module resolution and hit efficiency

Measurements with electrons at EPFL

We take measurements on station 3 with electrons (5 and 6 layer mats).

  • 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0V over-voltage
  • Transerve scans
