Checklist BEFORE starting cooling

  • Canary is blowing
  • CO2 meters are ON and displaying a reading
  • Blow system is evacuated: i.e. Vacuum is ON
  • If operating modules in air:
    • module support is tightly closed
    • flowmeter shows that compressed air is flowing (purge for at least 15 mins on high flow)
    • The compressed air can be felt at the exit of the module support
  • If operating modules in vacuum:
    • vacuum is on
  • Check the weight of the CO2 bottle and write it in the logbook
  • Make sure that the lab view program to display the temperatures is running, and is not in a frozen state - i.e. the time is updated and the graphs are moving

  • Now you are ready to follow the cooling instructions according to the documentation

Checklist AFTER finishing the cooling

  • Close down the cooling following the documentation
  • Ensure when you have finished that all valves are open and the pressure from the bottle has dropped
  • Wait for all temperatures to rise above 5 degrees and then turn off the heater
  • Check the weight of the bottle and write it in the logbook
  • If leaving for the night, turn off the vacuum system
