Make sure that the LV system is READY. If not follow the instructions on the Low Voltage System.
Log on to a Windows console in the online network (LHCb domain).
Open the following directory: G:\online\ecs\Shortcuts\VELO
Double click on VEECS1_UI_FSM. The following panel will pop up:
Right click on VELO to get the VELO ECS top panel. In this panel you find the list of sub-systems: if the VELO_DAQ sub-system is not included, click on the corresponding padlock and choose take.
Click on VELO_DAQ to make sure that both halves are enabled or that the half you don't want to use is disabled: in order to enable (disable) one half, just click on the red cross (green tickmark) and choose "Enable" ("Disable").
Configuration of the whole VELO DAQ: click on the VELO_DAQ button and choose Configure; a pop-up panel will ask you what activity you want to run (e.g. PHYSICS, PHYSICSNTP,...).
Configuration of a single VELO DAQ half: click on the VELOA(C)_DAQ button and choose Configure; a pop-up panel will ask you what activity you want to run (e.g. PHYSICS, PHYSICSNTP,...).

How to Reset the whole VELO DAQ
Log on to a Windows console in the online network (LHCb domain).
Open the following directory: G:\online\ecs\Shortcuts\VELO
Double click on VEECS1_UI_FSM. The following panel will pop up:
Right click on VELO to get the VELO ECS top panel. In this panel you find the list of sub-systems: if the VELO_DAQ sub-system is not included, click on the corresponding padlock and choose take.
This action MUST be taken for the two halves separately: click on VELO_DAQ to get the panel with VELOA_DAQ and VELOC_DAQ. Make sure that both halves are enabled or that the half you want to use is enabled: in order to enable one half, just click on the red cross and choose "Enable".
Click on the VELOA(C)_DAQ button and choose Reset; a pop-up panel will ask you which options you want: the defaull options are CB_Conf=UNCHANGED and Beetle_Conf=UNCHANGED. If the Reset command is sent with these values, the DAQ state will change to NOT_READY but the hardware will not be touched! If you want to really reset the hardware, than choose CB_Conf=UNLOAD and Beetle_Conf=UNLOAD: in this way the DAQ state will change to NOT_READY and the hardware will be fully unloaded.
