Data Writer

This twiki page is supposed to explain the usage of the data writer process.

What is it?

Is a dedicated piece of software running on the servers directly connected to the storage system (store02-store03 nodes). It is meant to write event files in an optimal manner with respect to the IO done to the storage system. It behaves a temporary buffer, coalescing multiple write events for bigger IO operations. This approach increases significantly the data throughput to the Online storage system.

Usage

It can be controlled as a service:
 /etc/ini.d/writerd [ start | stop | restart ]

The logging information is put in the /var/log/storage file and the possible running options, together with their description are in the /etc/writerd.conf.
